Agile BI with SQL Server 2012 Event Recaps

Thank you to all of those who attended our luncheon in Dallas on Tuesday, June 19th, and breakfast in Minneapolis on Thursday, June 21st, which both focused on Agile BI with SQL Server 2012. We hope your learned some valuable information on how agile techniques, along with self-service tools, offer an opportunity to transform traditional BI project development methods to fit dynamic user requirements.

Some key take aways from our presentation included:

  • Need to blend both the agile and  classic approaches to BI. The blended approach addresses both data architecture and the need for speed prototyping.
  • The Agile BI approach with Microsoft PowerPivot can help with modeling and building the solution simulaneously, as well as promote the model/solution to an enterprise class BI solution.
  • Need to enable self-service BI  in order to accelerate results and adoption.

Many people have requested a copy of the presentation from these events, which can be found here: GNet Group’s Agile BI Approach Using Microsoft SQL Server 2012

To view videos that demonstrate how to create motion charts with Power View and dashboards with PowerPivot, see below.

To see how GNet Group leveraged its vast BI experience and Agile BI approach with Polaris Industries, a Microsoft case study can be found here. This case study explains how we built enterprise class BI solutions using SQL Server 2012 and SharePoint 2010 as the BI Platform, which resulted in a self-service BI solution across the whole company, ultimately positively impacting the bottom line.

Finally, to get in touch with someone from GNet Group, we have provided a list of contacts for both our Dallas and Minneapolis/St. Paul offices.
